  • March 7, 2020: espressoAcoustic v3 - third times the charm at moxSonic. This year we are featuring Kansas City music by Marble (Meagan Conley and Alberto Racanati), Spencer Perkins, and Seth Davis. We’ll also have special presentations of Aphasia by Mark Applebaum, performed by John J. Pearse, and a special live listening of Tristan Perich’s 1 Bit Symphony 

  • February 12, 2020: Piano Fixed: A Brief History of Piano and Electronics - A collaboration between Professor Thomas Rosenkranz & his piano studio at the UMKC Conservatory & KcEMA, presenting an evening of works for piano and electronics. Pieces by Mario Davidovsky, Jonathan Harvey, Missy Mazzoli, Jacob T.V., HyeKyung Lee, and local KC composers Jim Mobberley & Frank Nawrot - Concert 2: Diastole Scholars Center KCMO

  • September 28, 2019: Techno Chapel - Techno Chapel is a 50 minute multimedia performance from composer Seth Andrew Davis & Colin Mosely in collaboration with Project C4, KcEMA, & Charlotte Street Foundation. Participating artists include Seth Andrew Davis, Colin Mosely, Project C4, & The Janus Restraint - Capsule KCMO


2018/19

  • June 16, 2019: Suite for the Passersby - The Nelson-Atkins Museum is pleased to collaborate with KCEMA - Kansas City Electronic Music and Arts Alliance to present the world premiere of Christina Butera’s Suite for the Passersby. Composed for the museum’s Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park, the solo-instrument and electronic movements are also accessible through a smartphone app that responds in real time based on a listener’s proximity to specific works of art. After the live performance of Suite for the Passersby in Atkins Auditorium, the audience will be encouraged to experience the app in the Sculpture Park on their own devices

  • May 3, 2019: Kansas City Contemporary Music Festival - In collaboration with newEar Contemporary Chamber Ensemble, KcEMA provided technical support for the third annual Kansas City Contemporary Music Festival. Participating artists included Lace Chamber, Project C4, Stacy Busch, Liz Pearse, Mnemosyne Quartet, Marble, & newEar - The Bauer KCMO

  • March 9th, 2019: espressoAcoustic v2 - as a part of the moxSonic festival, KcEMA produced their second annual espressoAcoustic. Coffee, long form surround sound pieces, and commiseration. Featuring new works by Martin Chittum (Malediction No.1: Donald J. Trump (25 min)), John Chittum (Benediction No. 1 : Jimmy Carter (20 min)) and excerpts from Stacy Busch’s Mass (~30min). Also featuring renowned composers Hildegard Westerkamp (Once Upon a Time (25 min)) and Barry Truax (The Garden of Sonic Delights (12 min))

  • June 17, 2018: Transcendence to Modern - In collaboration with the 2018 UMKC Composition Workshop and composers from KcEMA, Transcendence to Modern presents the work of six new pieces composed specifically for the Cloister Room at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Works premiered by Jeff Borowiec, Christina Butera, Seth Andrew Davis, Eli Houghland, Daniel Morel, & Reynold Simpson.   • March 10, 2018: espressoAcoustic - the inaugural espressoAcoustic at the inaugural moxSonic festival! Featuring Scott Blasco’s Pentecost (~20 min), Jason Bolte’s Bounce (~35 min), Andrew Seager Cole’s Bubolz Walk (~25 min), and David McIntire’s Schwimmende (Floating) (~40min). All composers featured currently live in Kansas City, or have historical ties to KcEMA.

  • November 4 - 11, 2017: Space Through Time: Evolution of KcEMA - KcEMA’s residency with Charlotte Street Foundation focused on the history of electronic performance art within a specific location. This residency included Cody Kauhl’s installation “I Am Moving Through A Room...” utilizing live video and music, a performance of Alvin Lucier’s “I Am Sitting In A Room…”, and “We Are Sitting In An Evolving Room..” a collaboration between Christina Butera, Jeff Boroweic, John Chittum, and Tianna Morton - La Esquina KCMO
